Citywide Open Studios

another interesting art event going on / coming up is the NY Citywide Open Studios -- various artists in the 5 boroughs let people come into their studios and check out their work and workspaces. They're doing a borough per weekend -- Manhattan and Queens have already past, but this weekend is the Bronx, and next weekend Brooklyn, with Staten Island the week after. There are several DUMBO / Brooklyn Heights studios participating -- it would be interesting to see what it's like inside of some of the buildings we've been looking at .

their website is http://www.isupportart.org/
and their brochure and map guide are at http://www.isupportart.org/LMag_EAI.pdf

BRYANT PARK: thoughts on cell phone usage

a snippet of what Jui and I discussed following our Bryant Park exercise, during which we used our cell phone as props and as technology:
as props to help us invade peoples' space ("who pays attention to someone on a cell phone?")
as technology to communicate the situations ("..isn't background noise just as relevant....?")
